Wanderers bounced back from the midweek disappointment against Civil Service United to thrash Karonga United 3-0

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers downed Karonga United by a score of 3-0 on a Saturday afternoon at the Kamuzu Stadium in an entertaining affair.

The Lali-Lubani side had plenty of opportunities to score in the both halfs. A Misheck Botomani brace and a Mohammad Sulumba spot kick in the second period gave the Nomads their last win in the first round of TNM Super League.

The match started in an open fashion, Wanderers looked sharp from the off against Karonga United, looking to press high and force errors from the visitors.

The break through came on a eleventh minute when Misheck Botomani fired us in front following Wanderers’ move that epitomised our play throughout.

The Nomads continued to create chances and finally doubled the lead on 40 minutes after Mohammad Sulumba converted his penalty.

Misheck Botomani, Stanley Sanudi and Yamikani Chester all had goals cancelled out by the linesman, but again there could be no argument with the officials’ decision, and three seemed to be plenty as we brushed Karonga United aside to bounce straight back from the disappointment of the draw with Civil Service United.

By the end we had definitely knocked the fight out of the Visitors and were playing the ball around at will, with the away side fortunate not to have ended up losing by more, given the three goals we had disallowed.

Even without those additional goals, the final score of 3-0 summed up our supremacy at the Kamuzu Stadium well enough, as we just proved far too strong for Karonga United in every area and comfortably returned to winning ways in the TNM Super League to maintain our third spot at the top of the table with 28 points.

The Selection:

Coach Eddington Ng’onamo made four changes from the side that drew 0-0 at Civo Stadium with Civil Service United. Peter Cholopi came into the defence, alongside Miracle Gabeya, with Richard Chipuwa continuing behind them in goal.

Starting XI: Chipuwa, Gabeya, Sanudi (C), Balakasi, Cholopi, Kumwenda, Zulu, Botomani, Balikinho, Sulumba & Msowoya.

Subs: Thole, Kaipa, Kolawole, Mkonda.

Used Subs: Mlimbika, Kaliati, Mpinganjira Nyangulu & Chester

Scorers: Botomani (11′ 55′) & Sulumba (40′ P)

  1. Our coaches it seems they don’t what to do with all players. Need to have 1st 11 and need to use their own knowledge not from senior players or someone who is not in coaches panel.
