Mark Harrison expect a tough assignment on Wednesday as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC face fifteenth placed Red Lions FC at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Head Coach spoke to the Club Media on Tuesday, ahead of the TNM Super League second round opener.

On the Coach’s expectations on Wednesday

It’s going to be another tough game am sure. They [Red Lions] are fighting for their lives now, they are in a relegation zone. There is not going to be an easy take. They are desperate for points. They are an army team and so they will be physical and probably very direct in their play. We have to compete with their physicality. If we do that, then am hopeful our quality will get us through the game.

 

On whether he is worried about the injuries in the camp

We have been carrying two to three injuries now for a good few weeks. We have been coping with that which is good. I feel we are picking up good momentum now and we need to keep that momentum going. The second half of the season is vital to any any team if you are ambitious to win trophies. Like I have said previously, there are four trophies on offer and we are competing for all the four. Every game is going to be tougher than the previous one and so we need to be mentally strong and prepared.

On the rumors that the Club will be releasing some players at the start of the next round

I can neither confirm nor deny the rumours at this moment in time. We are always looking forward to improve the squad, that’s for sure whether it’s now or at the end of the season. We also have young players who are not getting game time and they may wish to have an opportunity to get game time. However there has been nothing concrete at this stage.

The Mark Harrison men return to Kamuzu Stadium lying on position four in the standings and having 28 points to their tally. A win on Wednesday could see them move third on the log table.

Mark Harrison will be missing the services of Christopher Kumwembe, Mphatso Kamanga and Adeleke Kolawole who are still nursing injuries. The Englishman could however welcome towering Lawrence Chaziya who has steadily recovered from the injury he suffered against Mafco FC a fortnight ago.
