Mark Harrison has provided an update on striker Chiukepo Msowoya, midfielder Isaac Kaliati and goal keeper Dalitso Khungwa. The three players have been out for weeks owing to injuries and sicknesses.

Addressing the club media ahead of Sunday’s league opener against Civil Service United, the head coach confirmed Dalitso Khungwa who was sidelined due to sickness is back in training and so is Chiukepo Msowoya who got injured during Flames assignment in Saudi Arabia.

“We have Dalitso and Zlatan (Chiukepo Msowoya) back in training and available for selection. Isaac Kaliati is still out, he will probably join us next week,” shared Harrison.

Preparations for the league opener at Kamuzu Stadium

The league opener comes just a week after The Nomads went down 2-1 to their sworn rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC in the NBS Bank Charity Shield at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe. Harrison spoke about how he has been talking to his troops about shifting their focus to the TNM Super League mission as the Lali Lubani outfit is eyeing the 2023 championship.

“Last week was a shocker! I have relayed the message to my boys. I am always honest with them and we have been working hard this week to correct it. I think last week we had a mental problem in terms of our approach to the game. It wasn’t a physical problem because we have a great squad and we have great talent and good depth. The players understand that they let the club down and they let themselves down. I have urged to work hard on Sunday and correct it.”

On the resilience and unpredictability of Civil Service United

The match on Sunday is very crucial to our campaign. We need to get off to a good start. Civo is a lively team and a useful team. They are sharp upfront and they can surprise you if you are not on top of your game. But our boys look sharp in training and we can expose them as well. We have prepared well and I am hoping for our first three points on Sunday.

On the possibility of scooping most of the domestic honours
Well as a coach, I am objective and I am a realist. As much as I know that we have a great squad, I also understand that we have 16 teams trying to win the league, 16 teams trying to win a position into the Airtel Top 8 and 32 teams trying to win the FDH Bank Cup, so there is alot of competition out there. There are too many variables in football and so winning the most of the honours is not guaranteed. What I can say is that we will give our best shot for what is on offer.
