Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC dashed into the last four of the FDH Bank Cup after clobbering Santhe Admarc 5-0 before a sizeable crowd at Kamuzu on Saturday.

Head Coach Mark Harrison gave his assessment of the game in in a post match interview:

*On whether he was satisfied with the performance*

In the second half yes, in the first half no. I thought in the first half we were going through the emotions alittle bit. We had a few words at half time and in the second half we were excellent. What we did in the second half, we should have done in first half.

*On whether he feels his boys were underrating their opponents [Santhe Admarc]*

I don’t know man, I don’t know. I keep talking to them about mental approach. It is something we are continuously working on and we have to keep working on it.

*On how difficult it is preparing for minor teams*

I don’t know if it’s something in the football club that we need to break. It seems it’s the mentality that seems to have been here for the last four to five years. It’s something that am working on. We are trying to break that mode. We need to create a winning mentality week in week out. It doesn’t matter who we play or when we play, we have to it that way. It’s work in progress.

*On facing Mafco FC in the semifinal*

It’s not going to be easy game by the way. It’s a strong side. I know where they are in the league but that means nothing. In the semifinal, form goes out of the window, everybody wants to be in the final so it’s going to be a battle. They are a physical team, they have got alot to offer. Currently, we have got 2-3 league games to focus on before that game.

The Nomads are yet to win the FDH Bank Cup since its introduction, two years ago. Last year, the Lali Lubani Boys crashed out of cup in the semifinal stage at the hands of Nyasa Big Bullets FC.

The match between Wanderers and Santhe had so much hype considering the fact that the second tier side had booted out Kamuzu Barracks and Tigers FC in the previous stages. Francis Mkonda opened the score sheet through a header in the 23rd minute after receiving a cross from Vitumbiko Kumwenda. Isaac Kaliati doubled the lead in the 53rd minute before goals from Francisco Madinga, Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Vincent Nyangulu.

  1. It was amazing to see the team scoring those goals but its a fact that we need to create a winning mentality week in week out… Otherwise congratulations and lets think about Wenesday’s assignment.

  4. It is interesting when the team is doing well

But my words to the boys is that they need to know the importance of scoring may goals , what I have observed is that they became satisfied before the final whistle of the game

Please inform them that we win that game after the final whistle not after we scored that goes
