Head Coach Gerald Bob Mpinganjira says the friendly match against Civil Service United on Sunday will help maintain fitness of his players during the international break.
The Coach spoke to Club Media on the friendly match and other issues.
𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵:
“It is a critical match. As you know we are on the international break and we needed to maintain the rhythm in the absence of competitive matches. We had another match last weekend in Nsanje and we thought we could do likewise this weekend.”
𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱:
“Well Civil is a good and experienced side. They will give us a good test. It’s one of the teams that is doing well in the league currently and we feel it is the best fit for the friendly match.”
𝗢𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗽:
“We would have loved to secure one international friendly match. Our board already approved but we have not been successful in securing one. I know it could have given us some level of exposure but we can’t do otherwise, we will just have to focus on local sides. We also have a match coming up against Silver Strikers FC after the break, I think we will be in shape when the CAF assignment will be finally here.”
𝗢𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀:
“Well we have brought on board Muhammad Sulumba. We are hoping to bring one more [player] before the transfer window closes.”
𝗢𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲:
“Well, we only have Chimwemwe Nkhoma who has not returned on the pitch. The rest are training with the team although others are just doing light trainings but all is well.”
Mighty Wanderers FC will be at Champion Stadium on Sunday where they will face Civil Service United.
