This time, striker Muhammad Sulumba grabbed a hat-trick to take his tally to 14 to start leading the golden boot race in the league.
Sulumba has overtaken Nyasa Big Bullets striker Babatunde Adepoju and Chawanangwa Kaonga of Silver Strikers, who were jointly leading with 12 goals each.
However, Wednesday’s defeat condemned Rumphi back to Premier Division as they failed to withstand the heat in the league on their debut season.
During the match, forward Vincent Nyangulu and Yamikani Chester, who was named man of the match, scored two goals each, while Isaac Kaliyati, Mathews Masamba and Aubrey Maloya scored a goal each.
Following the win, Wanderers remain on fourth position with 44 points from 23 matches while Rumphi are stuck at the bottom of 16-member log table with 10 points from 27 games.

Wanderers Coach Alex Ngwira said they were hoping to finish among top two teams in the league at the end of the season.
“We are so happy [with the score line] because this is what we have been looking for. We want the team to be getting goals in line with what we train them. We have seven games to go and our target is to finish on second position,” he said.
Ngwira was also pleased with Sulumba’s impact.
“He thought he would start the game but I told him that he would be introduced as a substitute. We gave him instructions to follow. His goals are giving us massive confidence,” he said.

Rumphi Coach Jimmie Mutawo blamed lapse in concentration.
“We held Wanderers for the first 20 minutes but we then lost focus. We will try to win our remaining games to move some steps up on the table,” he said.
