The Nomads trek to Kasungu Stadium on Saturday to face tenth placed Kamuzu Barracks FC in the top flight TNM Super League. This will be a wrap up game for both sides in the first round of Malawi’s elite league.

 

On paper, the Lali Lubani Boys who are second in standings seem to be favorites owing to their recent rich vein of form and head-to-head meetings between two outfits in the last five games. However, Coach Mark Harrison expects a tough game describing Kamuzu Barracks FC as a physical side that is capable of giving tough time to his Boys.

 

The Nomads who currently lie second in the standings, have this far played fourteen games; winning eight, drawing four times and losing twice. On the other end, the home team has played the similar number of games; winning four times, drawing four times and tasting defeat on six occasions.

 

Head to Head

 

In their last three meetings, Kamuzu Barracks FC and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC have won once each and drew once. The Nomads drew 0-0 away to Barracks in the first round of 2022 TNM Super League before losing 2-1 at their backyard. The Nomads however had a sweet victory over the Yellow Submarines after thumping them 4-1 in the FDH Bank Cup quarterfinals at Kamuzu Stadium.

 

Current form

 

The Mukuru Boys are enjoying a rich vein of form having won three out of three against giants Silver Strikers FC, Blue Eagles and Mafco FC. The home side however are without a win in their last three games. They lost to Chitipa United and Mafco before sharing spoils with Karonga United.

 

Men to Watch

Wisdom Mpinganjira has won back to back Man of the Match accolades

The Mark Harrison men will be banking hopes on the revitalized striker Vincent Nyangulu who has been able to find the back of the net in his last two matches. Man of the moment, enterprising Wisdom Mpinganjira who has won back to back Man of the Match accolades is also expected to a thorn in KB’s flesh. There is hope that Gaddi Chirwa will keep his pace, causing havoc and jitters in the soldiers’ defence.

 

For the home side, their experienced shot stopper who is in the race for the golden glove having kept five clean sheets this far is expected to be the headache for the Nomads’ attackers. Mike Ntonyo is expected to bring discipline in the submarine’s defence. Lanky veteran forward, Kelvin Hanganda carries the hopes of the Yellow Submarines upfront.

 

Missing in action

 

Nyerere will be missing the services of Lawrence Chaziya (hamstring), Mphatso Kamanga (knee), Adeleke Kolawole (groin) and Christopher Kumwembe (hamstring)

 

The home team has their stars Zeliat Nkhoma and Levison Maganizo unwell. Match maker Gregory Nachipo and Sekani Mhango are suspended.

The Nomads Gaffer has described KB as a physical side that is capable to cause problems to his side. He has urged his players to compete and fight for three points. The Englishman is also concerned with the venue for the showdown, describing is as not good for the Nomads’ style of play. He hopes direct football will be employed on Saturday afternoon so as to adapt with the status of the pitch.

 

Who gets the maximum points on Saturday afternoon in Kasungu? Referee Chidziwitso Simbi has summoned Kamuzu Barracks FC and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC from 2:30pm at Kasungu Stadium; let’s wait and see.
