Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC Head Coach, Mark Simon Harrison spoke to the media after his side’s 1-0 victory over the Lilongwe based Central Bank sponsored side, Silver Strikers FC

The Englishman expressed delight at his charges’ star performance against the second placed Bankers. While admitting that it was a tough game playing against a top side, Harrison praised his players for doing exceptionally well.

On whether the win eased pressure on the Nomads

Well I have been preaching this since the day I arrived, there is pressure every single game we play. Expectations are high and we want to do well. We can always perform to the standards we want to but I am a realist, we can’t win every game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose or draw.

On the reportedly ultimatum to win four games out of five, and what the win meant to him

It means nothing to me, it means nothing to me, nothing changes

On the next game against Blue Eagles

We have to go move forward. After we get out out of the dressing room, we wake up in the morning and we prepare for the Eagles. It’s another tough big and tough game, we have to come out strong

On the vocal support by the Nomads fans

That’s what we need. Negative energy brings fear in the players. Positive energy will make the players to express themselves positively on the pitch. When the players enjoy, the supporters will also enjoy, it’s a 2-way thing. And we need their vocal support again on Sunday.

With the win on Thursday, the Nomads have moved to position four in the standings with a tally of 22 points, four short of league leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC. They face Blue Eagles FC in their next super league assignment at Kamuzu Stadium

  1. Let’s win against blue eagles and we will be a formidable force. My quick analysis is that we are strong when playing supposedly strong teams. We are weak when playing small teams. We need that consistency as soon as yesterday. Otherwise this league is ours to lose it.
