Mighty Wanderers Reserve earned Blantyre City’s bragging rights after beating their rival FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve 2-0 at Mpira Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Two second half goals from Malizani Kalema ’59 and Stain Matengere 60′ were enough for Bullets to surrender their second position in the SRFA Premier Division to the Junior Nomads. Played before a sizeable patronage on a cold afternoon, the mini-derby lived up to its billing with both sides displaying scintillating football.
Bullets Reserve had their own share of scoring opportunities which were either wasted or well managed by Wanderers Reserve’s towering shot-stopper, Vincent Mdoka.

Reacting to the result, Mighty Wanderers Reserve’s Head Coach, Albert Mpinganjira Snr hailed his boys for containing their opponents and punishing them for their misdemeanors. “It was a grand by far. Our opponents [Bullets Reserve] came hard on us but we managed to contain them and in the end punish them for their mistakes.
I am happy with the win and I really commend my boys for putting up a gallant fight. “The win has seen the Junior Nomads dislodge Bullets Reserve from the second position of the SRFA Premier Division log table. Wanderers Reserve now have 29 points, four adrift of league leaders Ekhaya Reserve.
Well done team noma
