Mighty Mukuru Wanderers is considered as one of the big teams in Malawi.

Statistics indicate that Wanderers and Bullets are the most two top teams in Malawi in terms of numbers and trophies won.

As such, Wanderers fans expect the team to struggle only with Bullets and not other teams. It is because of this reason that the team changes coaches as soon as it feels like they are not delivering.

This season the team has not been doing well in the League despite reaching the Sami-Finals of FDH Cup and also despite winning a friendly trophy in Dowa against Kamuzu Barracks during the launch of Champions Stadium in Dowa.

For the first time in so many years, Wanderers are 16 points behind Bullets and are on position 4 despite that it is second round of the elite league despite securing a sponsorship deal with Mukuru.

These statistics prompted the management to make some changes in the technical panel that was led by Eddington Ng’onamo with Josephy Kwamwendo as the Assistant Coach.

Technical Staff

Josephy Kamwendo was demoted to Reserve side while Alex Ngwira a former Mzuni FC and Chitipa United coach was appointed as head coach and Eddington Ng’onamo was made Technical Director.

Many Wanderers diehards and soccer analysts questioned his appointment citing that he has never won any silverware and it was a grave mistake to let him lead such a big team.

Some circles even questioned if he has any “Blue blood” in his veins.

Well, it was a done deal still.

His first assignment was a very tough game against Dedza Dynamos in the FDH round of 16 encounter at Dedza Stadium.

After full time, it was Dedza 0-3 Wanderers thanks to Yamikani Chester, Alfred Manyozo and Vincent Nyangulu for the goals.

Many people said it was a fluke win for the coach and some even said it was because he found the team already built towards the game.

His next assignment was rather a tougher one. Blantyre Derby

His third game was against Kamuzu Barracks in the FDH quater final at Kamuzu Stadium.
