Mighty Wanderers FC says preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup are at an advanced stage, with everything being done to ensure a successful campaign.

Speaking at a press briefing in Blantyre on Wednesday, the Club’s Chief Executive Officer, Panganeni Ndovi, said the team is working tirelessly ahead of the first leg scheduled for 21st September in Lilongwe.

“The CAF Confederation Cup is a big stage to showcase our potential and abilities. It is also an opportunity to generate revenue for the Club. We are therefore doing everything possible to make our participation memorable and successful,” Ndovi said.

On the technical side, Head Coach Bob Mpinganjira acknowledged the strength of their opponents, Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana, noting their recent achievements on the continental stage.

“They are a good side, currently ranked 39th on the CAF Club rankings. This should motivate us to prepare thoroughly in all aspects. Where necessary, we shall add depth to the squad and make sure we are in shape for the competition,” Mpinganjira said.

First Vice-Captain Felix Zulu expressed the players’ excitement and sense of responsibility as they prepare to represent Malawi.

“We are not just motivated to win, but we also have at the back of our minds that we are carrying our country’s flag. We have an obligation to make Mighty mighty again,” Zulu said.

Representing the Board, Director David Kanyenda, who serves as Chairperson for Football Development, Legal and Compliance, thanked the Club President for giving the green light to participate in the continental showpiece.

He further appealed for more partners to rally behind the Nomads during the campaign.

Representatives of Smile Life Insurance Company, 888bets, and Pemba Rubber Stamps also attended the press conference in support of the Club.
