Mighty Wanderers 2021 Limited Board Member, Christopher Gondwe on Saturday handed over renovated players’ hostel to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC at the Club house in Blantyre.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Gondwe said he decided to embark on the initiative to renovate the hostel looking at the plight of some of Wanderers’ reserve and youth players who are staying in not so descent conditions. Said Gondwe; “we have our young stars staying in suburbs. The conditions are inhabitable in some cases. As a supporter and a Director, I decided to render a hand and do my part”.
According to Gondwe, despite the support which the Club receives from Mukuru and the Club President, there are still some challenges which made him feel duty bound to support. “I must admit that the Club President really inspired me to embark on this initiative. You know the President has been doing alot to support the Club and he encouraged and advised me to take up the challenge,” remarked Gondwe.
Receiving the renovated infrastructure on behalf of the Club, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Roosevelt Mpinganjira said the development is timely and in line with youth development agenda at the Club. “We have young players that need support and close monitoring. Some of these players cone from Mangochi and beyond, they have no relatives in Blantyre, this infrastructure therefore is a perfect hub for them”. Mpinganjira then applauded Director Gondwe for the donation, urging more well wishers to emulate the gesture.
Chairperson for Football Development, Limbani Magomero was present during the handover ceremony which was also attended by a section of supporters committee. The hostel has been renovated to the tune of K12,000,000.00
