Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC edged TN Stars of Kasungu by 2 goals to zero in the elite TNM Super League at Kasungu Stadium to collect maxmum 3 points.

Playing at the jam-packed Stadium, the Nomads survived an early scare by the Stars when their centre forward China Chirwa unleashed a shot that was cleared on the line by Wanderers’ centre back; Adeleke Kolawole.

The visitors opened the score sheet in the 14th minute when captain of the side, Stanley Sanudi lofted home an Isaac Kaliati cross to the exultation of Nomads fans.

The league’s second leading scorer Muhammad Sulumba was hapless for misfiring twice in the first 25 minutes.

The Mukuru Boys doubled the lead in the 27th minute when defender Peter Cholopi headed home another assist by Isaac Kaliati.

The Nomads dominated most part of the game in the first half with nothing to write about the host

In the second half of the game, the Stars of Kasungu turned resilient and denied Wanderers of numerous scoring opportunities by Stanley Sanudi, Muhammad Sulumba and Vincent Nyangulu.

Coach Eddington Ng’onamo made his first double substitution bringing in Chiukepo Msowoya and Francis Mkonda for Muhammad Sulumba and Vincent Nyangulu. Later, the Nomads’ gaffer also brought in Bongani Kaipa and Yamikani Chester for Felix Zulu and Misheck Botomani.

The state of affairs remained the same despite changes from both sides. Referee Brighton Gwiricho later called off the pulsating encounter after 90 minutes of tussle. The win has increased the superlative Nomads’ tally from 28points to 31 with 11 points adrift of league leaders (Big Bullets) who have 42 points.

Nomads are still on third position behind the second placed Blue Eagles who also collected maximum points in Karonga on the same afternoon. Blue Eagles have 33 points
